Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented CNC Machine Operator to join our team and support high-precision manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating manual and CNC lathe equipment to produce precision parts such as invertors, feedscrews, and related components in accordance with engineering specifications and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC machines to produce precision parts from engineering programs, drawings and work orders.
- Read and interpret blueprints, CAD/CAM work instructions, and precision measurement tools to ensure parts are produced to exact tolerances.
- Operate CNC controls, including loading tools, entering/adjusting programs, and monitoring machine cycles for quality and safety.
- Perform routine machine maintenance, tooling changes, and setup adjustments to maintain production flow.
- Conduct quality checks using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring devices; document results.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Production teams to refine processes, reduce scrap, and improve efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and OSHA standards in a machine shop environment.
- Keep a clean and orderly work environment.
Qualifications
Required:
- Experience operating manual and CNC lathe equipment in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.).
- Solid understanding of cutting fluids, speeds/feeds, tooling, and machining best practices.
- High attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills.
- Listen to directions and likes to learn.
Preferred:
- CNC programming experience or familiarity with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Rhinocam, Solidworks).
- Previous experience in precision machining for engineered components or specialty parts.
- Ability to perform basic mill operations or cross-train in additional machining areas.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift machine parts/tools/materials up to required weight limits.
- Comfortable in a machine shop environment with appropriate PPE (Safety glasses, steel-toe boots, hearing protection).
- Capacity to work independently or collaboratively with minimal supervision.
